Penulis humor Hazmi Srondol menerbitkan novel komedi berjudul Srondol Gayus Ke Italy yang bercerita mengenai realitas kehidupan karyawan di kantor. Buku sesuai rencana akan diluncurkan di Jakarta, 14 April 2011.

Pemilik nama asli Hazmi Fitriyasa itu dalam penjelasan yang disampaikan kepada Antara di Denpasar, Minggu, menyebutkan, Srondol Gayus Ke Italy merupakan buku pertama dari rangkaian ratusan buku kumpulan tulisan humor lainnya yang akan diterbitkan dalam format novel.

"Novel pertama yang diterbitkan oleh Media Publishing ini berisi cerita tentang kelucuan-kelucuan yang terjadi pada sosok Srondol, seorang staf kantor, saat mendapatkan tugas pelatihan ke Italia bersama rekan-rekan kerjanya," katanya.

Menurut dia, banyak hal yang menarik pada novel dalam seri buku ber-tagline "Humor Cerdas Ala Kantor" tersebut. Bukan hanya cerita perjalanan yang menarik dan kocak, di sini terdapat juga sisi-sisi romantis dan membuat galau Srondol saat menghadapi godaan seorang gadis jelita dari Venezia.

"Padahal, pada saat yang sama, istri Srondol di Indonesia sedang hamil tua," kata staf teknik bidang teknologi jaringan serat optik dan backbone perusahaan telekomunikasi ini.

Lelaki yang aktif dalam bela diri di Dojo Aiki-Kenyukai itu mengemukakan, desain sampul novel tersebut sangat menarik untuk dilihat dan menggelitik. Jika tidak cermat melihat, orang akan menduga bahwa wajah di sampul tersebut adalah foto seorang tersangka kasus korupsi pajak yang kini sedang terkenal.

Padahal, foto tersebut memang merupakan foto diri sang penulis yang di kantor dan di lingkungan tempat tinggalnya sering dibuat bahan bercanda karena mirip wajah Gayus Tambunan. Karena itu, kata "Gayus" dalam judul novel tersebut diberi tanda silang sebagai penegas sekaligus pengumuman bahwa Srondol itu berbeda dengan "Gayus pajak".

Hazmi mengemukakan bahwa setelah novel pertama beredar, beberapa buku "Humor Cerdas Ala Kantor" lainnya akan menyusul, dan juga menceritakan kelucuan dan kekocakan Srondol di sekitar pertemanan, pekerjaan, para pimpinan, lingkungan, serta keluarganya beserta anaknya yang cerdas dan menggemaskan.

Kembalinya latihan bebas Jumat pagi sudah diprediksi sejak beberapa waktu yang lalu.

Dan setelah adanya pertemuan antara FIM, Dorna (pemegang hak siar MotoGP), IRTA dan MSMA, dipastikan latihan Jumat pagi secara resmi kembali dilakukan.

Dalam rapat yang dilakukan Jumat 14 Januari 2011 tersebut ditetapkan akan ada tiga latihan bebas setiap akhir pekannya selama 45 menit sebelum dilakukan kualifikasi.

Latihan bebas Jumat pagi akan dilakukan setiap pukul 10.10 waktu setempat, sedangkan latihan bebas kedua berlangsung pukul 14.10. Hanya latihan bebas kelas 125cc yang berlangsung 40 menit.

Latihan bebas Sabtu tidak berubah. Latihan bebas ketiga tetap pukul 10.10 waktu setempat. Kualifikasi berlangsung satu jam.

The T-Mobile Sidekick 4G, perhaps one of the last Sidekick phones to hit the market under the T-Mobile name, will hit stores this spring. The device will cost $99.99 after rebate with a new two-year contract.

This Sidekick may look similar to models from the past, but on the inside, it's a very different device. Built by Samsung, the Sidekick 4G runs Android 2.2. This is only fitting, when we consider that the co-founder of Danger — the company that originally created the Sidekick and its at-the-time-revolutionary UI — is none other than Andy Rubin, who now oversees Android at Google.

T-Mobile will also be releasing the new G-Slate from LG sometime this spring. The 3D capable device runs Android 3.0 Honeycomb and features an 8.9-inch HD display and a dual-core Tegra 2 processor.

T-Mobile will offer the G-Slate for $529.99 after rebate with a two-year contract. That pricing is slightly better than what Verizon offers users for a subsidized Xoom — however with the iPad 2, the Wi-Fi only Xoom and the new BlackBerry PlayBook all available within the next 30 days, it remains to be seen if 3D is enough to get customers to buy a contract-laden G-Slate.

Now we're talking, Samsung! In a surprise move, the company decided to come clean with the pricing of its new Galaxy Tab 8.9 and 10.1 this morning, and it's incredibly competitive. The WiFi version of the 10.1 will be up for grabs on June 8th in the US, and as you can see from that lovely chart above, the 16GB version is set at $499 and the 32GB at $599. Did you really have any doubt that Samsung was going after Apple here? The company is being a bit more vague on the Galaxy Tab 8.9 availability, only promising an early summer arrival at this point, but the WiFi version of that one comes in at a bit less. The 16GB option is $469 and the 32GB $569. You'll want to check out our hands-on with the two new tablets, but with this pricing now in our bag, we're certainly getting excited for the summer.

Twenty three students from the performing arts department took its eighth annual study experience trip to New York earlier this month.

The students toured NBC studios and were also featured on America's most popular daytime show, Today, broadcast live from Rockefeller plaza.

They met presenters Al Roker and Meredith Vieira who not only chatted with them off camera, but bid them a special welcome to New York live on air.

Lecturer and trip organiser, Iain Patterson, said: "On previous trips we have seen parties from schools and colleges across the USA watching the live outside broadcast, so this year we decided to get a piece of the action. We took the college banner which had the desired effect of drawing attention to us."

As well as taking in the sights, the group saw two Broadway shows, The Addam's Family Musical and the much publicised Spiderman the Musical, ventured to the top of the Empire State Building at sunset, walked in Central Park, and viewed Grand Central Statio.

Student Louise Kirby, 17, from Ashford said: "Going to New York was the most amazing life experience and something I shall remember forever. I particularly enjoyed the atmosphere of Times Square and soaking up the American culture as we explored Manhattan." The iPad had a giant leap on the tablet world, but the competition is about to get stiffer. Research In Motion (RIM), the maker of the popular Blackberry line of smartphones, said Tuesday its long-awaited BlackBerry PlayBook tablet will go on sale from April 19 at 20,000 retail outlets in the U.S. and Canada at a starting price of $499.

The tablet was to be sold in all Best Buy stores and Best Buy Mobile stores in the U.S. and at Best Buy and Future Shop stores in Canada. The company said it would let customers place orders for the new tablet immediately.

The BlackBerry PlayBook with Wi-Fi will come in three models, featuring 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of storage at $499, $599 and $699 respectively.

But it's hardly the first competition for the iPad, and until reviewers are able to test it, it's hard to say which is the best competitor.

Motorola Xoom

It was voted Best of CES and for good reason. The Motorola Xoom is the tablet most likely to give Apple's iPad a run for its money. It won't hit the market until March 27, but the Xoom will be the first tablet running Google's Honeycomb operating system -- the forthcoming version of the Android OS that's made explicitly for tablet-style devices.

Android fans are salivating over the Xoom's specs, too: It runs on Verizon's lightning-fast 4G LTE network, has 32GB of storage, two cameras, HD video capture, an SD card slot and a 1GHz processor, plus it's upgradable from 3G to 4G, meaning you can use it on 3G now and then on 4G when the faster network becomes available in your area.

Samsung Galaxy Tab

Unlike the first-gen iPad, the Samsung Galaxy Tab -- which shares many of the same features as the Galaxy S smart phone launched last summer -- has front- and back-facing cameras for video conferencing. Just like the popular Galaxy S smartphones, the Galaxy Tab includes Samsung's Social Hub application and the new Media Hub content service, offering premium movies and TV episodes from some of the biggest entertainment companies.

It runs on Google's fledgling Android operating system, which has taken significant marketshare from Apple, and has access to some 80,000 applications on the Google apps store.

The Rest

Those aren't the only competitors out there, of course. Toshiba unveiled its Folio 100 tablet last year, which has a 10-inch screen and sells in Europe, hte Middle East and Africa. Toshiba's tablet uses an Nvidia processor and Google's Android operating system.

Huawei's first tablet, a 7-inch screen also running Google's Android software, reached consumers in Europe in time for the holiday sales season, at a substantially lower price.

And the market for low-cost clones promises to grow and grow as the year goes on. Apple has ruled the tablet market with the iPad since its launch last year. But how long can it hold that position?

RIM's announcement came after Apple's high profile launch of the iPad 2 on March 11 and prior to Motorola's Xoom Wi-Fi tablet hitting stores on March 27.

Amazon has opened the Appstore for Android, providing another option for app shopping to U.S. users of smartphones with Google's operating system.

Amazon is trying to lure users away from Google's Market by offering users a free paid app every day. The first such application is Angry Birds Rio, which usually costs US$0.99, and is an exclusive for Android users via Amazon's store. Users can also test applications with a feature called "Test Drive," which runs applications on a simulated smartphone.

Amazon will also have an approval process for applications submitted to its store. The company will be testing apps to verify that they work as outlined in the product description and to make sure hat they don't impair the functionality of the smartphone or put customer data at risk once installed.

In many ways Amazon's Appstore for Android works in the same way as the rest of its store. Users can view app recommendations based on past purchases from Amazon and pay in the same way as if they were buying a book. Applications can be purchased from a computer, a smartphone or a tablet.

At about 1:30 p.m. Central European Time on Tuesday, the top five paid applications were Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons, Angry Birds Rio, Fruit Ninja and Shazam Encore. The top five free apps were ZombieBooth, Angry Birds Seasons Free, Angry Birds Free, Amazon Mobile and Paper Toss.

Amazon has been trying to attract developers for some time. In January, the company launched a portal where developers can submit applications.

The app store is available to users in the U.S., excluding AT&T subscribers. However, AT&T is working to change that, and users can sign up at a website to be notified when the operator has finalized its plan, it said.
